International motor shows are where the public get their first glimpse of the new products heading for the car market. Seen initially at the Tokyo event in 2013 and then reappearing, first at January’s Detroit show and most recently at the prestigious Geneva Motor Show this month, Lexus have introduced the stunning RC.
This is a very pretty coupé version of the Lexus IS and more or less a production version of the LF-CC concept from the Paris show last year. It comes to Britain in late 2014. It will feature the same powertrain as the IS300h with 223hp of full hybrid power from the four cylinder petrol engine plus electric assistance. All this and just 99g/km of CO².
The 2015 Lexus RC Coupe takes the brand in a sportier yet still sensible direction and it’s one of the best-looking Lexus models yet. For those seeking the ultimate in thrills the Company have also introduced the fiery RC-F. The Lexus RC-F Coupé is the most powerful V8 Lexus to date (the mighty Lexus LFA supercar notwithstanding). Powered by a 32 valve 5.0L V8 engine developing 450hp, this striking car comes with a stunningly athletic exterior to match.
As you can see from the video here, the front is dominated by the signature Lexus spindle grille. Moving to the rear, the RC-F features an available speed-sensitive active rear spoiler that is inspired by the aforementioned LF-A. In all there are four selectable driving modes.
The interior is equally superbly built. The sporting exterior is enhanced by the driver’s cockpit. Paddles sit behind the multi-function steering wheel through which the instrument pinnacle can be seen, dominated by a central readout. Overall the supreme quality of this desirable four-seat coupé can only come from Lexus.
