BMW has announced that the upcoming 100% electric version of the MINI will be built at the Cowley plant near Oxford.
The car will go into production in 2019 and the UK will be the main “production location” for the EV.
There were fears that the new model would be made overseas, so the decision provides a major boost for Britain post-Brexit.
The MINI’s battery electric drivetrain will be built in Germany, then shipped over to the UK to be intergrated into the car.
